I graduated BA Hons Theatre: Design for Performance from Central St Martin's College of Art and Design. Not a big fan of the conventional theatre experience growing up, I happily applied myself to the course which asked me to critically examine the nature of performance and its relevance to people who, like me, might be searching for new adventures.
After developing independent projects and area-designing on Punchdrunk's Faust, I teamed up with producer Harry Ross to make site responsive work for a variety of companies. Between 2010 and 2013 we led the design and production of Secret Cinema events, mounting 13 large scale productions attended by well over 250,000 people.
Since 2011 I have been a professional mentor to new students following my course (now re-named BA Performance Design and Practice).
Harry and I have always looked to encourage new collaborations and set up our company FFTA (O'Neill/Ross) to gather small commissioning budgets and put on experimental productions in interesting locations. In 2014 we channeled this effort into the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's InTRANSIT Festival, commissioning and curating site responsive productions across the borough each summer.
I have had the pleasure of collaborating with many artists and companies over the last 10 years, the ones you may recognise are: Aldeburgh Festival, Bompass & Parr, Hospital Club, London Contemporay Orchestra (RPS shortlist 2013), Secret Cinema, London Symphony Orchestra, Opera Holland Park, RAMBERT, Roundhouse, Saatchi Gallery, Vivienne Westwood, Wilderness Festival, Frogner Dance, Tim Casson, Neo Futurist Collective, the National Trust.
I am a Scot, a lover of history, society, psychology and innovation, and stepmother to three awesome young humans.
